The peak of mold clamping forces applied during injection of molten resin (50) into a mold is set as the maximum of detected mold clamping force with respect to set mold clamping force. An expression including a relationship between set mold clamping force and the maximum of detected mold clamping force with respect to data over the maximum of detected mold clamping force is determined. The set mold clamping force value is determined as appropriate mold clamping force value such that the set clamping force and the maximum of detected mold clamping force is equal to determined expression. An independent claim is included for mold clamping force setting device for injection molding machine.
