The device (10) has a wind deflector (12) adjustable between stowed and protective positions in a vehicle vertical direction by an adjustment device (22). Spring elements (24, 30) i.e. gas pressure spring, of the adjustment device are articulately connected with the deflector. The deflector is partially pressurized in the protective position by force upwardly applied by the elements in the vertical direction. The deflector is partially held in a bottom dead center position of the elements in the stowed position by another force downwardly applied by the elements in the vertical direction. An independent claim is also included for a convertible passenger car.
