The method involves supplying water to a vehicle, and applying neutrons on an interspace (18) to be tested for presence of water (20) in an inner space of the vehicle using a neutron source (22) of a neutron probe (16), where the interspace is formed between a body part (12) and a carpet (14). The probe is moved relative to the portion of the inner space by a robot or an operator. The neutrons decelerated by molecules present in the water are detected by a neutron detector i.e. counter tube (28), of the probe, where the counter tube comprises helium-3 isotope. An independent claim is also included for a test set-up for checking tightness of an inner space of a vehicle.
