Aspects of the exemplary embodiment relate to a system (10) and a method for processing a document, which allow an evaluation of the consistency of the abstract (12) of a document (14). The method includes storing the document in memory (22) and, for each sentence of the abstract, comparing the sentence to the sentences of the main body (16) of the document using textual implication techniques to identify whether the sentence of the abstract implies a sentence of the main body of the document. Links (34) can then be generated between the implicit sentences of the abstract (12) and the corresponding implied sentences of the document (14). The document (16) and links (34) generated are outputted. The links (34) allow the consistency of the abstract to be evaluated, manually or automatically, using a system evaluation component.
