An electrode comprises a current collector (200); an intrinsically electron-conducting adhesive (202) on a surface of the current collector; an electrocatalyst (204) that is bonded to the current collector by the electron-conducting adhesive; and an ionomer layer in contact to the electrocatalyst. Independent claims are included for: (1) an intrinsically electron-conducting adhesive for bonding electrocatalysts comprising intrinsically electron-conducting polymer(s), dopant(s), and tackifier(s); and (2) a fuel cell comprising an anode, an electrolyte and a cathode comprising a current collector; an electron-conducting adhesive on a surface of the current collector; an electrocatalyst that is bonded to the current collector by the electron-conducting adhesive; and an ionomer layer (210) in contact to the electrocatalyst.
