Method for stabilizing e.g. mussels, to distribute and/or market mussels, involves subjecting living seashell or living mollusk to microwave radiation during duration of specific minutes, so as to increase preservation duration
The method involves subjecting a living seashell (7) or living mollusk to microwave radiation (4) during duration of 0.5 to 20 minutes, so as to increase the preservation duration of the seashell or the mollusk. The seashell or the mollusk is cooled to the non lethal cooling temperature. The seashell or the mollusk are packed in a package e.g. polypropylene tray (2), jute bag, perforated plastic bag, woven plastic bag, thermoformed plastic bag, plastic tray, wood tray or plastic film, under the partial vacuum atmosphere comprising gas mixture of nitrogen, carbon dioxide and oxygen. An independent claim is also included for a device for stabilizing living seashell or living mollusk.
