The template (1) has a base (10) provided with a fixing orifice (11), and a fixing unit formed of a screw (20) and a nut (21) cooperating with the orifice for ensuring the fixing of the template on a body (4) of a vehicle. A control part (3) includes an arm (30) projecting from the base and includes a free end supporting a reference part (31) i.e. spherical part, that is designed for use as reference for positioning a rotation axle of articulation hinge. The base is provided with a cantering orifice for allowing passage of cantering pin of the template on the body. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for designing a template (2) a method for controlling position of a rotation axle of an articulation hinge of an opening frame on a body of a vehicle.
