The device has a rigid part (6) having a shape adapted to be introduced in a space between a lip (2) of a quarter glass (1) and an upper part (3) on a side of a passenger compartment (4) of a vehicle, after elastic deformation of the lip of the quarter glass. The rigid part has a length corresponding to a part of the length of the lip and cross section corresponding to cross section of the space, where the length of the rigid part ranges between one-third and half of the length of the lip. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a roof bar.
