The process comprises contacting a micro-ecosystem (5) with an environment subjected to discharge for a specified period, measuring a state of the micro-ecosystem at the end of the contacting step, and comparing the micro-ecosystem, which is contacted with the environment and the micro-ecosystem in a given state, which is a reference state. The micro-ecosystem is contained in a sealed device provided with a unit (3) for allowing a flow (2) of the environment subjected to discharge to cross the device and with a controllable unit. The process comprises contacting a micro-ecosystem (5) with an environment subjected to discharge for a specified period, measuring a state of the micro-ecosystem at the end of the contacting step, and comparing the micro-ecosystem, which is contacted with the environment and the micro-ecosystem in a given state, which is a reference state. The micro-ecosystem is contained in a sealed device provided with a unit (3) for allowing a flow (2) of the environment subjected to discharge to cross the device and with a controllable unit. The micro-ecosystem includes a natural or artificial substrate, artificial foam substrate or herbal substrate, and living microorganisms within the substrate. The controllable unit is configured for controlling and/or measuring the flow and/or for controlling physicochemical parameters of the environment. The step of measuring the state of the micro-ecosystem includes measuring a parameter indicative of the state of the micro-ecosystem. The herbal substrate is a plant of the family of aerial or aquatic Bryophyta, where herb is selected according to the nature of the environment. An independent claim is included for a device for quantitative measurement of the impact of a discharge on an environment.
