The method involves defining data bursts from data packets of a service (1). An encoding matrix (2) is constructed by filling the matrix with portions of the bursts (2b) according to matrix dimensioning parameters. The matrix is encoded (3) according to an error correction code e.g. Reed-Solomon or turbo code. A placement header of one of the packets is defined (4) in a decoding matrix corresponding to the encoding matrix. Information sections are generated (5) and transmitted (7) at level of a physical communication layer of a transmitter e.g. user terminal, of a mobile communication network. The information sections include a data section comprising the placement header and the data packet, and a redundancy section comprising the placement header and parity symbols generated during encoding of the encoding matrix. The dimensioning parameters include interleaving depth of the data packets, interleaving depth of the parity symbols associated to the data packets, a transmission delay between the data packets and the parity symbols, a mother code of the error correction code and total number of columns of the encoding matrix.
