The device (D) has a cold loop (BF) to cool air passing through the loop. A reference element (ER) is selected from a zone associated with a mode in which the cold loop and a hot loop (BC) are unfunctional, another zone associated with another mode in which the hot loop is unfunctional while the cold loop delivers cooled air as a function of outdoor temperature measurement, and a third zone associated with a third mode in which the cold loop is unfunctional, while the hot loop delivers heated air as a function of a position of a mixing flap (VM) and an external temperature measurement.
