The arm assembly has a wiper arm (15) assembled, through an opening, on a drive shaft (5) of a movable connecting rod assembly (7). The shaft is rotatably mounted in a bearing (3) of an elongated support of a windscreen wiper mechanism (1). The arm is angularly directed toward the shaft by an indexing unit such as protuberance e.g. rectangular-section rod (18), for accurately positioning the arm on a windscreen of a car. The protuberance is secured to an upper end (3a) of the bearing. An upper end of the protuberance is engaged in a notch (19) of the arm when the arm is assembled on the shaft.
