Using potential field data and seismic data to generate a representation of the underlying geology of an underground formation

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for processing geophysical data from a survey of a surveyed region of the earth to provide a representation of the underlying geology of said surveyed region. The method comprises inputting 2D seismic data for said surveyed region and generating a first representation depicting a plurality of reflection interfaces of said surveyed region using said input seismic data. Potential field data is also inputted for said surveyed region and is used to generate second representation depicting a plurality of density interfaces of said underlying geology of said surveyed region. The representation of said plurality of density interfaces and said representation of said plurality of reflection interfaces are combined to reposition at least one of said plurality of reflection interfaces. A final representation depicting said underlying geology of said surveyed region using said combined first and second representations is generated.
