PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method and a purification method of an asymmetric Diels-Alder reaction product, and an asymmetric catalyst and an asymmetric catalyst mixture suitably used for the manufacturing method.;SOLUTION: An α,β-unsaturated aldehyde and a conjugated diene are caused to react using water as a solvent in the presence of an asymmetric catalyst composed of a compound represented by general formula (1) or an enantiomer thereof and an acid, or in the presence of an asymmetric catalyst composed of a salt of a compound represented by general formula (1) or an enantiomer thereof with an acid. In the formula, R¹ and R² are each independently an aryl group, heteroaryl group, cycloalkyl group, heterocycloalkyl group, cycloalkenyl group, heterocycloalkenyl group, alkyl group, alkenyl group or alkynyl group, each optionally substituted; R³ is a silyl group or an optionally substituted alkyl group; R⁴ is a protecting group for a hydroxy group; and n is 0 or 1.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
