PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for press-forming a gear-shaped component from a plate material made of sheet metal in one step while suppressing sagging, using a press-forming die comprising a punch and a die, a gear-shaped component having tooth parts and tooth bottom parts formed on the peripheral wall part of a cup-shaped body, and to provide a gear-shaped component made of sheet metal with suppressed sagging. PSOLUTION: On the inner peripheral forming face of the die, trough stripes and crest stripes, which form stepwise tooth parts and tooth bottom parts, are formed in the axial direction of the die in such a manner that the stripes are divided into a plurality of regions. On the outer peripheral forming face 30a of a punch 30, crest stripes 31 and trough stripes 32, which form tooth parts and tooth bottom parts, are formed. Further, a step part 31a is formed on a crest stripe 31 of the punch 30 in such a manner that the front edge side of the crest stripe 31 is lower than the rear edge side thereof.
