PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation structure which ensures comfortable habitability against wind load of a return period on the order of one year, enhances the horizontal rigidity of a base isolation layer against wind load of a return period on the order of 50 years, and exerts base isolation effect at the time of a large earthquake, and to provide a base isolation structure designing method and a base isolated building.;SOLUTION: According to the base isolation structure, a base isolation device is arranged between a super structure 14 and a sub structure 16. Vibration having a minute amplitude, of the super structure caused by wind load of the return period on the order of one year is damped by the base isolation device, and therefore the comfortable habitability is ensured. With respect to wind load of the return period on the order of 50 years, the horizontal rigidity of the base isolation layer is enhanced by a rigid member 70, and therefore excessive deformation of the base isolation layer can be prevented. If the super structure 14 and the sub structure 16 undergo large relative movement at the time of a large earthquake or the like, the rigid member 70 is broken, and therefore constraint of the relative movement between the super structure 14 and the sub structure 16 is canceled, which allows the base isolation device to function, to thereby exert base isolation effect.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
