PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cutting tool having a hard coating layer exhibiting excellent chipping resistance and wear resistance in high-speed deep cutting. PSOLUTION: In the surface-coated cutting tool, a lower layer consisting of an adhesive Ti compound layer and a reformed (Ti, Zr) CN layer, and an upper layer consisting of a reformed (Al, Zr)SB2/SBOSB3/SBlayer are vapor-deposited on a surface of a tool base body. When the number and the position of Σ-corresponding grain boundaries present facing an interface between the upper and lower layers, 30-70% of Σ3 corresponding grain boundary of the lower layer present facing the interface forms a crystalline grain boundary continuous to the Σ3 corresponding grain interface of the upper layer, and further preferably, the ratio of Σ3 of the lower layer in the depth area at least on the base body surface side from the interface occupies ≥60% of the ΣN+1, and the ratio of the Σ3 of the upper layer occupies ≥60% of the entire ΣN+1.
