PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inspecting whether the corroded condition of a conduit is uniform or local, through the use of an inspection apparatus with an ultrasonic sensor.;SOLUTION: The inspection method includes a stage for applying guide marks positioned on the border lines of each unit section to the external surface of a conduit for partitioning a pipe wall of the conduit into grid-like unit sections, having a size which can be inspected at once by the ultrasonic sensor; a stage for scanning a series of unit sections by the ultrasonic sensor and measuring corrosion depth, on the basis of the guide marks; a stage for applying the Gumbel distribution to data on measured corrosion depth and deriving a scale parameter, indicating the degree of data dispersion of corrosion depth in the distribution; and a stage for an inspection apparatus or a tester for deciding that the corroded condition is uniform, when the scale parameter takes a reference value or smaller.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
