PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus which can control decomposition reaction of solid-containing material to be treated, can enlarge the scale, can suppress the apparatus cost low, and can selectively produce a desired useful material in high yield, in continuous decomposition of the material to be treated with subcritical water.;SOLUTION: The material to be treated is crushed into particles in advance and the particles are mixed with water to prepare slurry. The slurry is sent to a pressing means 1 through a pipe and pressurized. Subsequently, the pressurized slurry is sent to a heating means 2 and heated to evolve into a subcritical state. The slurry in the subcritical state is introduced into the bottom of a reaction vessel 3 through an introduction port 8. In the reaction vessel 3, a fixed layer, a fluidized layer, and a layer being dissolved in subcritical water are formed from the bottom. The layer being dissolved in the subcritical water is taken out through selected one of discharge ports 101-106 installed in the upper and side parts of the reaction vessel 3 to adjust a residence time of the subcritical water and adjust the reaction time required for decomposing the material to be treated with the subcritical water.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
