It is an object to provide a maleimide-based compound having excellent photoelectric conversion characteristics, and a tautomer or a stereoisomer thereof, a dye for photoelectric conversion, a semiconductor electrode, a photoelectric conversion element, and a photoelectrochemical cell. In order to accomplish the above-described objects, a dye for photoelectric conversion including at least one compound represented by the following general formula (1) is provided.; ;(In the formula (1), R¹ represents a direct bond, or a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group.
