Devices and methods are proposed for detecting a current or approaching discharge event for use in offshore drilling rigs having a flushing fluid circuit. The device includes a first sensor configured to measure the input flow of flushing fluid injected into the well, and a second sensor configured to measure changes in the reverse flow of flushing fluid rising from the well. The device also includes a controller connected to said first sensor and to said second sensor. The controller is configured to detect a current or approaching ejection event based on monitoring and comparing the process of changing the input flow of the washing liquid measured by the first sensor and the process of changing the reverse flow of the washing liquid, based on the measurement results received from the second sensor. Additionally, a third sensor may be included in the device to confirm the conclusion made by the controller before notifying the user that an outlier has occurred with a certain degree of probability.
