A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ASSISTING PEDESTRIANS TO CAREFULLY WALK ACROSS TRANSPORT WAYS

A system and method for assisting pedestrians to carefully walk across transport ways have been disclosed. The system includes striped segments comprising a combination of dark colored portions and light colored portions in a ratio of 1:3. The striped segments make pedestrians aware of the speed at which a vehicle traveling on the transport way is approaching them. The system further includes a first warning means comprising at least one pictographic representation of situation of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle while ignorantiy walking across said transport way. The first warning means cautions pedestrians about dangers associated with ignorantiy walking across the transport way. The system, further includes a second warning means which instructs vehicle drivers to blow horn in staccato honking configuration producing staccato sound characterized by at least two unconnected and short bursts of sound for alerting pedestrians about movement of vehicles on the transport way.
