A WAVE POWER APPARATUS HAVING A FLOAT AND MEANS FOR LOCKING THE FLOAT IN A POSITION ABOVE THE OCEAN SURFACE

A wave power apparatus that aids to prevent extreme impacts occuring duringstormsand hurricanes from damaging the floats, arms and other parts of theapparatus. The wavepower apparatus comprises at least one arm, which is rotationally supported atone end by ashaft and carrying a float at its other end, which is opposite to thesupported end, so that atranslational movement of the float caused by a wave results in rotation ofthe arm around theshaft, power conversion means for converting power transmitted from the waveto the at leastone arm into electric power by means of a hydraulic driving system with atleast onehydraulically driven motor, and a hydraulic lifting system for lifting thefloat out of the oceanand for locking the float in an upper position above the ocean surface,wherein said at leastone arm comprises a plurality of rotationally supported arms, each of whichcarries a float,each arm being connected to the hydraulic driving system by means of at leastone actuatorwhich causes a hydraulic medium of the hydraulic driving system to bedisplaced into one ormore mutual motors, the actuators being arranged to displace the hydraulicmedium to themotor(s) via common hydraulic conduits, and the hydraulic lifting system isadapted toindividually lift each float out of the ocean.
