THERAPEUTIC USE OF ALL-TRANS RETINOIC ACID (ATRA) IN PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM ALCOHOLIC LIVER DISEASE

The current invention concerns a method for treating human patients suffering from Alcoholic Liver Disease (ALD) by administration of a retinoic acid receptor agonist (RAR) to said patients. In a preferred embodiment, the said RAR agonist is all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA). The current invention furthermore provides for a pharmaceutical composition, whereby said the pharmaceutical composition can be used as a therapeutic to lower the levels of TNF-α in patients suffering from ALD and use of such composition.
