TOOL KIT FOR IMPLANTATION OF A PERCUTANEOUS INTERSPINOUS SPACER AND METHOD OF USING SAME ASSEMBLY

An tool kit for implantation of a low-invasive interspinous spacer into an interspinous space (I) comprises an applicator member (2) having an elongate central through cavity (3) extending between a distal end (4) and a proximal end (5), and at least one first dilator member (6) for slidably engaging and disengaging the central cavity (3) and having a first proximal end (7) designed to be manipulated by an operator and a second substantially tapered or pointed distal end (8) designed to penetrate the interspinous space to change the distance (D) between two spinous processes (S-i, S2). The first dilator member (6) and the applicator member (2) are designed to be in mutual axial sliding relationship, for allowing insertion of the distal end (4) of the applicator member (2) into the interspinous space and later extraction of the first dilator member (6) from the cavity (3), thereby enabling insertion of the interspinous spacer (1 7) into the interspinous space through the same central cavity (3). A method of use the above mentioned tool kit.
