The device has a generating device (V) for generating a residuum (r) based on a reference variable (w) and a system output variable (y). A comparator unit (KE) provides an analytical result (b) by comparing the residuum with a given threshold (s). A provision unit (E1) provides a constant threshold portion (s0), and another provision unit (E2) provides an adaptive threshold portion (s1) based on the reference variable. A third provision unit (E3) provides the threshold by linking the constant threshold portion to the adaptive threshold portion. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for residual analysis of a residuum to detect system errors in a behavior of system of an aircraft (2) a computer program product inducing a method for residual analysis of a residuum to detect system errors in behavior of system of an aircraft.
