METHOD FOR SIMULTANEOUSLY ANALYZING CATECHINS AND CAFFEINE IN BIOSPECIMENS USING HIGH-PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY

PURPOSE: A method for simultaneously analyzing catechins and caffeine in biospecimens is provided to separate and analyze effective materials in specimens collected from livestocks ingesting green tea components.;CONSTITUTION: A method for simultaneously analyzing catechins and caffeine in biospecimens includes the following steps: specimens are collected from a target livestock; the specimens are mixed with ascorbic acid-EDTA; the mixture is homogenized using a methanol/ethyl acetate solution and 0.3M sodium dithionite/0.1% Na2EDTA solution; the homogenized solution is concentrated to be applied to a hydrophile-lipophile balance(HLB) column; caffeine is extracted from the solution through the HLB column; and catechin is extracted from the solution using ascorbic acid-EDTA and a methanol/ethyl acetate solution.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013
