PURPOSE: A fire monitoring method based on detection of sound field variations and a system thereof are provided to early detect a fire although a flame or smoke is not visible. CONSTITUTION: A fire monitoring system includes a sound generation device (210), a sound reception device (220) and a fire monitoring device (230). The sound generation device outputs a sound wave according to an input voltage within a given space. The sound reception device receives a sound wave within a given space and obtains a sound pressure from the received sound wave. The fire monitoring system calculates reference sound pressure information by using an acoustic transfer function representing the ratio of the input voltage of the sound generation device to the sound pressure obtained by the reception device in a standby mode. The fire monitoring device calculates current sound pressure information by using the acoustic transfer function in a monitoring mode and determines whether a fire occurs by comparing the reference sound pressure information and the current sound pressure information.
