A robot automation apparatus for automatically extracting overlaying conditions from a data base, and automatically performing overlay welding of a mold according to the conditions, and a robot automation method for performing overlay welding of the mold according to a robot operation program by creating the robot operation program based on mold overlaying conditions that are automatically extracted from the data base are provided. A robot automation apparatus(200) for overlay welding of a mold comprises a computer(210) for converting mold data into data according to a predetermined application, performing calibration of the converted data, and translating the calibrated data using a robot language according to overlaying conditions controlled in a predetermined database, thereby creating the translated data into a robot operating program, and a robot(220) that creates data for the calibration, and performs a welding operation by automatically moving a welding torch(240) to concerned overlaying positions of the mold according to the robot operating program created in the computer. The computer includes a database(214), a data conversion part(211), a robot calibration part(213), and a robot path creating part(212). The robot automation apparatus further comprises welding equipment(230) for controlling a power source such that beads are overlaid by the welding torch.
