PURPOSE: An error-detection method using motion vector hidden-information insertion based on RDO(Rate-Distortion Optimization) in an H.264/AVC baseline profile is provided to accurately detect error location in a transmission process using a syntax/semantic algorithm by detecting the total sum of motion vector differential information transmitted by a macro block in the process of decoding of a transmitted bit stream. CONSTITUTION: When a transmission error with respect to transmitted bit streams is detected by a syntax/semantic detection algorithm, a decoder accumulates encoded motion vector differential information values until completion of decoding of a motion vector field of a macro block and judges the total sum of the accumulated motion vector differential values is an even number or not(S200,S300). When the transmission error is determined, the decoder dumps the rest data in a slice from the error generated macro block and interpolates and reconfigures the dumped macro blocks by a concealment method provided in the H.264/AVC(S600,S700).
