PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing an antibacterial active ingredient of Alpinia galangal is provided to ensure an excellent antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus, and to relieve or prevent acne or atopic dermatitis. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition for preventing skin sensitivity contains 0.001-5 parts by weight of an acetoxychavicol acetate compound of chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. The compound of chemical formula 1 is extracted from Alpinia galangal using ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, trichloromethane, or acetone. The cosmetic composition is manufactured in the form of a skin softener, an astringent, a lotion, a nutrition cream, a massage cream, an essence, a gel, a pack, a powder, an external use skin ointment, a patch, a suspension, an emulsion, a spray, a soap, or a cleansing foam. The compound of chemical formula 1 is effectively applied to acne and atopic dermatitis.
