The fault handling method involves accepting the disturbance by the service provider. Fault analysis is done by the service provider and remote user is approached by the technician with a remote configuration device. The configuration device is used to program and to administer user and connection. Network access is reconfigured for the remote user on the site by the legitimate user of the remote configuration device. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an apparatus for remote configuration of access to a telecommunications network; and (2) a software for an access server.
