The invention relates to a method for the production of spatially resolved quasi t2 - weighted from a magnetic resonance examination region. In this case, with a first gradient balanced ssfp - sequence (30) a start of magnetization in a first direction is tilted. ortkodierte first magnetic resonance signals (32) from the first gradient balanced ssfp - sequence (32), during the transient part of the first gradient balanced ssfp - sequence (32) is detected. With a second gradient balanced ssfp - sequence (34), a start of magnetization in one of the first direction opposite the direction of the tilted. ortkodierte second magnetic resonance signals (36) from the second gradient balanced ssfp - sequence (34), during the transient part of the second gradient balanced ssfp - sequence (34) is detected. The first and second magnetic resonance signals from the transient part of the ssfp - sequences are constructively superimposed (38 to heterodyne signals). From the heterodyne signals, image data (42), having a predominant t2 - weighting is reconstructed (40) or they are spatially resolved estimate of the relaxation time constant t2 - used.
