Hydrothermal carbonization of biomass in a continuous flow, comprises feeding the biomass by a conveyor (3) to at least one reactor (5), in which the biomass is dehydrated and carbonized, removing the carbon slurry emerging through the carbonization from the reactor via at least one outlet, where the carbon slurry is fed to the outlet by a filtering device (8), which is designed for solid separation of larger particles of a defined particle size. An independent claim is also included for device for hydrothermal carbonization of biomass in continuous flow, comprising a reactor with an outlet for removal of the carbon slurry emerging through the carbonization and a filtering device.
