The method involves manufacturing (a) a local coil with flat cross-section, in which the resilient plastic components, particularly bars, rubber straps or springs are introduced into the foam. The local coil with flat cross-section is subsequently shaped (b) into a local coil with a curved cross-section. The flat cross-section of the manufactured local coil is a section perpendicular to the patient longitudinal direction or head-foot direction of the local coil.
