The method involves selecting and setting a value (30 to 40) of a determined scan parameter of a computed tomography scanner, where the selected value used for the examination is recorded and compared with the value of the scan parameter of a default setting (21 to 25) related to a specific patient. The usage of the default setting (22) with the determined scan parameter is suggested to the user for the specific examination of patients, when the deviation of the values for the specific examination from the values of the default setting lie within a predetermined interval. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) disk with a computer program; and (2) a computed tomography apparatus with a processing unit.
