The field device has a digital to analog converter for generating an analog output signal at an analog output. The digital to analog converter has a switch with a pulse width modulator (19). The switch has two semiconductor switches (10) for generating pulse width modulating signals (11). The semiconductor switches are switched in a signal path between a circuit output for the pulse width modulating signal and an upper reference voltage (Vref) and a lower reference voltage (AGND). The semiconductor switches are provided as metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors.
