The method involves requesting weather information for geographic corridor (KORR) comprising corridor travel routes (RTK1, RTK2). The weather information is requested with respect to a route time reference point and/or a required starting time and/or estimated arrival time. Cost parameters are adapted according to the weather information received based on a request with respective candidate route sections, which lie in the geographical corridor. A weather travel route between a start position (SP) and a target position (ZP) is determined under consideration of the parameters of the sections. An independent claim is also included for a route planning device for planning a travel route for a vehicle.
