The solenoid valve (10) has a damping device with a damping sleeve (40) that is provided for defining a damping chamber, such that the space of the damping chamber is limited by a magnet armature (30). The volume of the damping chamber is set to minimum in a closed position of the magnet armature, and is set to maximum in an open position of the magnet armature. The damping sleeve is movably arranged along a longitudinal axis (31) by the force of a specific spring element towards a sealing surface. The solenoid valve has a solenoid (29) that is operable in a container filled with pressure medium. A magnet armature is indirectly or directly interacted with a closure element (27) having a passage (15) for pressure medium control. A guide element (12) is moved along the longitudinal axis in the direction of the armature. The closure element is pressed by a spring element (33) delimiting with a passage, during non-energized state of the solenoid. The movement of the closing element is delayed by the damping device.
