Rail car i.e. non-independently driven rail car, for e.g. goods train, has brake system whose permanent magnet retarder is formed as single wear-free duration brake device and cooled by air flowing through rail car
The rail car (1) has a brake system (6) including a friction assembly (7) and a permanent magnet retarder (9), which is formed as a single wear-free brake device. The retarder is cooled by air flowing through the rail car. The retarder is switchable between a state without a braking action and a state with maximum braking action, by an actuator e.g. pneumatic cylinder. The friction assembly and the retarder are pneumatically actuated by a main air line (8), which couples the rail car with a train. An independent claim is also included for a method for braking a rail car.
