The device has several rechargeable battery cells (4a-4c) that are connected in series or parallel to cell assemblies. Switching modules are provided for adapting charging state during the charging process of battery cells by a floating power unit. A rechargeable battery system is provided with an isolating direct current (DC) static converter (2). A switching matrix (3) is provided with electronic switches for switching individual rechargeable battery cell and cell assembly in series.
