The thread splicing device (10) has a thread feeder for positioning the prepared thread ends in splicing channel of the splicing prism. Actuators (18,19) are provided for a lower thread clamp and cutting device (23A) and an upper thread clamp and cutting device (23B). Each thread clamp and cutting device is mounted between an outer limit position and an inner limit position such that a distance (a) is adjusted between the both thread clamp and cutting devices. The distance lies between a minimum distance and maximum distance.
