The tool has upper tool portion (2) that is moved in direction of lower tool portion (1) on which sheet metal plate made of hardenable steel alloy can be placed. A sheet metal blank is introduced into free space between tool portions using handling tool. A support contour (3) is provided with recesses (6) in which supporting portions (5) which support blank are fittingly inserted, so that partial areas of hot-formed metal sheet resting on support portions are cured. The strength and ductility of partial area are higher than that of areas which are not rested on the support portions.
