Steering column for motor vehicle e.g. passenger car, has rear column portion that is pivotable in entry/exit position as upper end position to increase exit area for driver, and is pivotable in driving position as lower end position
The steering column has rear column section (2) which is pivotally connected to the vehicle chassis via a transverse axis (4), and is directed towards a driver, such that the steering wheel (5) connected at rear column portion is displaceable in its height. The rear column portion is pivotable in entry/exit position as upper end position for increasing exit area for driver, while rear column portion is pivotable and lockable with actuatable locking mechanism (9) in driving position as the lower end position.
