The method involves providing a sensor device (12) in a motor vehicle (10) for detecting a track course extending in travel direction of the motor vehicle. A driving path is detected based on the detected track course. A movement trajectory of the motor vehicle is determined. Detection process is performed to determine whether the movement trajectory passes within the driving path. An independent claim is included for a device for operating driver assistance system of motor vehicle.
