The wheel bearing assembly (10) has a wheel hub (70) on which a wheel (20) is mounted. The wheel has an outer bearing ring (30) which is releasably secured to a stub axle (50). The bearing forces of a bearing annular surface (32) of the outer bearing ring are transmitted frictionally to a stub axle surface (52). The ring bearing surface and the stub axle surface are conically shaped with a matching conical angle.
