The engine (100) has a sealing/lubricant circuit (180) with a sealing/lubricant line system (270) through which a sealing medium/lubricant i.e. perfluoropolyether (PFPE) is flowed. A working medium circuit (170) is provided with a working medium line system (160) through which a working medium is flowed. A fluid engine (110) of the working medium circuit is sealed/lubricated by the sealing medium/lubricant. A recovery device (190) recovers the sealing medium/lubricant from the working medium. The PFPE is selected from a branched PFPE and a non-branched linear PFPE. The fluid engine is designed a as piston engine and a steam engine. The sealing medium/lubricant is selected from a Krytox (RTM: high-performance synthetic lubricants), GALDEN (RTM: PFPE electronic fluids) and DEMNUM (RTM: perfluoropolyether oil). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a heat engine.
