The A-pillar (1) has a flat attachment region (7) comprising a form closure element for fastening the A-pillar at a motor car body structure, where the A-pillar is formed as a one-piece rigid part using a forging process. Supporting surfaces are formed at a base body (3) using a mass forming process such as forging process. One of the supporting surfaces is formed as a bearing surface (5) for a windscreen, and the other supporting surface is formed as a contact surface (6) for a car door. The base body is made of light metal or light metal alloy. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an A-pillar for a motor car body structure.
