The apparatus (1) has a packaging carrier positioned in the apparatus such that the carrier partly extends into a seal region (3) of a pre-seal station (2) and into an insertion region (4). The pre-seal station is formed to seal a part of the carrier along a pre-seal seam with an upper film to set free an insertion aperture in the pre-seal seam so that products are inserted into the insertion region in the packaging carrier with pre-seal seam through the insertion aperture. The insertion aperture is accessed via the insertion region. An independent claim is also included for a method for positioning a product on a packaging carrier.
