The device (3) has a detection unit (6.1) for detecting a view field of a passenger of the vehicle and a light shadowing unit (2) for controlling a light transparency in determined view field depending on interference light source (1). Another detection unit (6.2) detects traffic sign or transport facilities present in the surrounding of the vehicle. An evaluation unit (7.1) determines position of the traffic sign and transport facilities within the view field. A control unit (7) coupled with the light shadowing unit is provided. The light shadowing unit is formed as liquid crystal element. An independent claim is included for a method for selective light shadowing of spatial areas within a vehicle.
